Welcome to Primary 1B!

We have settled so well into our new school and have made lots of new friends. We are trying very hard to care, share and help each other, and are having lots of fun learning new things.
We get so excited when we see the new play activities set out each week, and know that our teacher wants us to learn something very important. Our topics this term are ‘Nursery Rhymes’ and ‘Toys’. Just look at how much fun we are having!
Poor Humpty Dumpty hasn't got a wall! We are going to build one for him! It will also be our rhyming wall.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Do I have enough currant buns with a cherry on the top?
We might be famous authors one day, just like Jill Murphy … we even made our very own Nursery Rhyme books!
The dinosaurs have escaped from the Toyshop and no-one will let them into their homes. I wonder why! We must make them a new habitat.
We love using the Argos catalogues to sort. While we are making ‘a set of toys’, we might as well write our Santa lists!
Mrs McQuade is so clever. She is showing us how to move the Bee Bot from one toy to another, without falling off the table!
We really enjoy singing the Jolly Phonics songs every day, and doing the actions. It helps us to remember the sounds and how to write them. We are even starting to build new words and write sentences. We are listening for words that rhyme and are clapping the syllables in words.
We can now recognise and write lots of numbers and can count forwards and backwards. We are learning to make patterns, sort different objects into sets and name and describe 2D shapes. We can even ‘think quickly in our heads’.
As you can see, we are very busy in Primary 1, and we have heard our teacher saying “There just isn’t enough hours in the day” but we don’t know what this means. We do know that she has lots more fun planned for us, and as we finish our first term in John Paul II Primary School, we are very happy and proud of ourselves and can’t wait for next term!
